Papakura Museum is a community Museum founded by members of the Papakura & Districts Historical Society (PDHS), which continues to function with the aid of Society volunteers and the support of the Auckland Council. It is home to a continually growing collection of photographs, objects and documents which tell the story of Papakura and surrounding Districts.

Museum Manager

Kay Thomas is the Manager of the Papakura Museum. For general enquiries and information on how to get involved with the Papakura Museum, you can contact her Monday – Thursday. Please contact Kay if you have any media enquiries.


Kristina is our part-time receptionist, and she is happy to answer any general queries and provide information about Papakura Museum. You can contact her by phoning (09) 298 2003. All other reception-based enquiries can be re-directed to either Museum Manager Kay Thomas, or Education Coordinator Kelsey Hankins.

Museum Curator

Ione Cussen is the Curator of Papakura Museum, and can be reached on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Local & Family History Research

To enquire about family research, please phone us on (09) 298 2003 and we will be happy to help! Curator Ione Cussen or Education Coordinator Kelsey Hankins will assist with research enquiries.

Education Coordinator

Kelsey Hankins is the Education Coordinator. For school and group bookings, or queries on public programmes and museum-related activities, please contact her on the email provided below. She is in on Tuesday-Saturday.
