1938 – 1996
Robyn Yousef

The progress of Papakura from a small rural service town before WWII to the large District of today needed recording. The extraordinary expansion and development began in 1938 when the area was constituted a Borough, the greatest motivation and impact in the first year being the building and establishing of the Papakura Military Camp for mobilisation and training for war overseas. The services that were demanded and expected of them to support this huge project taxed the small resident population.

This book tells the story of the progress of Papakura from pre-war years up to the mid-nineties.
